A Haddonfield Idyll

A new song about an olde place

A Haddonfield Idyll

Haddonfield.

Down by Centre Street we'd idle in the evening,

As the canopy of twilight veiled the sky.

It was Olde Kings Court where families liked to gather, together,

Quite the quiet place to while the Eventide.

There we'd sit and watch our neighbors greeting neighbors,

With their children, pets, and loved ones. All was well. One could tell.

Now and then our noteworthy Pick-Up Band was playing

Songs that we love.

How are things in halcyon Haddonfield?

How are things back home?

Are the streets still lined with Shade Trees? And do flowers

Still abound all around Haddontown?

Haddonfield.

How I loved the scene, the children, and the people,

Passing by and smiling, "Hi," as is polite.

What a joy it is to hold these golden memories of olden times

That always quicken my delight.

Haddonfield.

While the canopy of twilight softly deepens.

And the time soon comes for all to say, "Good night."

Good Night.
